For the last couple of months Afrinova has been running a campaign to sponsor one talented artist from Africa or the diaspora with a 200CHF entry and registration into the exciting Art.Box Zurich 2.0 initiative.
A huge congratulations to Ras Silas Motse, our chosen artist who will digitally exhibit his artworks at the Swiss Art Expo in Zurich.
We received tons of entries which really got us excited about the great creative talent & skill that the African continent has to offer.
So, 32 entries later and a very tough decision-making process, we with the help of our friend Anne Mazimhaka of Eelom Creative Studios based in Kigali, Rwanda selected Ras Silas Motse as the recipient of the sponsorship.
Ras Silas Motse, was followed by runner-up Simphiwe Kaka who is an emerging artist that stood out with his unique style and Sfumato technique which we hope to see more of in the near future.
It was definitely not an easy decision but we chose Ras Silas Motse because his technique and work resonated across various themes whilst still forming part of a creative collection of more pieces that the artist can showcase on such a platform.
Our recipient will have the opportunity to enter up to 5 of his artworks into the project, and our runner-up will receive 1 entry.
Both artists will have their work exhibited in Zurich digitally at the Swiss Art Expo this August to at least 80 000 guests daily.
Other great benefits include:
- A personal QR code to share their other artworks.
- Receive 100% of sales for artwork that they choose to sell.
- A certificate of participation for the event.
- 6 – month paid feature on artsy.com to help them market and sell their artwork entries.
- And the possibility to become one of the 10 finalists chosen by Art.box Project to exhibit their original works at the expo.
The Afrinova community wishes the artists the best of luck on their journey with art.box project and we have our fingers crossed that they get selected as one of the top 10 finalists.
